History:

Daming Temple is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist temples in China, situated in the city of Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The temple has been involved in several events in Chinese Buddhist history, and is currently one of the four major sites for Buddhist pilgrimages in China. Its history dates back to the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) when its construction was initiated by Emperor Ming.
