Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area is a renowned scenic area and UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Sichuan Province of China. This protected area covers an area of over 700 km2 and is home to a variety of ecosystems, species, and cultural sites. Huanglong is an area of great significance to the Chinese history and culture. It has been mentioned in ancient Buddhist texts and was historically an important administrative unit in the eastern border of the Ancient Tibetan Empire. Records from the 7th century CE describe the area as a region of landscapes and people, with the mountain of Huanglongshan as the centerpiece.
