The Peter the Great Statue, located at Moscow's Moskva River Embankment, was unveiled in 1997 to celebrate 300 years since the founding of the Russian Navy by Peter I of Russia. It stands 98 feet (30 m) high and is the sixth-tallest statue in Moscow. The sculptor is Mikhail Anikushin and the architect responsible for the monument's grandiose arch-like base is Zurab Tsereteli. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Russia.
