Originally constructed in 289 CE, it is the largest single piece of stone ever cut by hand in the ancient world. Dedicated to Diocletian and later to Emperor Diocletian and Emperor Constantine the Great, it stands 25 meters tall and is constructed from red granite originating from the nearby city of Aswan.
