Bolívar Square is located in Maracaibo, in the state of Zulia, Venezuela. It is a well-known public space with a major historical role for the people of the city, and the state of Zulia. The origin of the square dates back to the early 19th century, when, after five years of struggle, Simón Bolívar captured the city and declared it as Liberated of Maracaibo on the 24 of June, 1816. To honor the victory, the city’s founder Don Bartolomé Uncañe decided to name the place Bolívar Square, that square stays at same location since then. In the beginning of the 20th century, the square was completely remodeled and cleared the area around it.
