The Laguna de Tacarigua National Park (LTNP) is the first of its kind in the Mirandan state of Venezuela. Located in the central coastal region of the country, this park was established in 1987 with the purpose of protecting a large natural lagoon and wetland system that is home to a variety of aquatic wildlife and plant life and the local human populations. The LTNP encompasses more than 1800 acres of land and is divided into two distinct sections, the wetland lagoon region and the dry coastal region.
