The Titanic Belfast is a state-of-the-art, six-story visitor attraction located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was opened in 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the launch and sinking of the RMS Titanic, which was built in the former site of the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. The attraction provides an interactive and immersive experience exploring the Titanic’s history from before it was built in 1910 to its fateful sinking on 15 April 1912. It was built in the shape of four ships’ hulls, representing the four Olympic-class liners which were built in the former Harland and Wolff shipyard. The shape of the building was inspired by the famous image of the four liners in dry dock in Belfast. The building stands at the entrance to the Titanic Quarter, which is an area of Belfast which has been developed over the past two decades and contains key components of the Titanic story.
