Rheinsteig is a 322km long-distance footpath located in the states of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate in Western Germany. It follows the course of the River Rhine from the source of the river in Wiesbaden to Bonn, offering magnificent views of the river, lush valleys, winding trails in the enchanting Rhine Valley. The trail is divided into 24 stages, depending on the terrain, each ranging from 4 to 19 kilometers long. The surface of the trail is mainly made of forest paths, paths along the river and country lanes. The route ascends up to 500 meters, and passes by castles, ruins, monasteries, hills, vineyards and riverbanks, and offers an authentic experience of the cultural and natural landscape typical of the Rhineland region.
