History:

The Dresden Zwinger Palace is a Baroque era palace complex in Dresden, Germany. It was built between 1709 and 1719 by the order of Augustus II of Poland, also known as the “Great Elector”, and is one of the city’s most famous landmarks and a popular tourist destination. The foundation stone of the palace was laid in 1706 and inaugurated by Augustus II in 1710. The palace was designed by Johann Friedrich von Sachsen, who used baroque and rococo elements for its design. When it was completed, it included a pavilion, a system of galleries, stairs, and a parade ground. It immediately became a popular meeting point for the court and noble circles of Dresden.
