The building served as an inn during the Ottoman period and was renovated and opened to the public as a museum in 1971. It houses an impressive collection of artifacts and objects related to the city’s history, from its foundation in the 2nd century BC to its occupation by the Ottomans in 1522. The Museum also includes a reconstructed castle tower and a defense section with wax figures of Seljuk and Ottoman soldiers showing the first steps in the conquest of Alanya.
