Worship Method:
Kuzhagar temple follows theSouth Indian Shaiva tradition. The temple has a daily pooja ritual performed twice daily, in the morning (7AM to 8AM) and the evening (7PM to 8PM), known as Thiruvaaraadhanai and Uchi kaala pooja. The deity, Lord Shiva, is worshipped in the form of a Shivalingam. The deity is covered in several yellow and red garments, with some precious jewels. The offerings made to the deity involve the usual Hindu offerings such as flowers, incense, turmeric powder, Kumkum and rice. During the Uchi Kaala pooja, camphor is lit and waved all around the deity as a symbol of devotion. The chanting of vedic mantras is also performed during the ritual.
