Worship Method:
The worship of Goddess Kaalikambal is conducted in accordance with the traditions of the Tamil Nadu temple worship system. Most of the rituals are conducted under the leadership of the Priest or Goor one of the senior most authorities. Following is the prescribed list of the worship methods: 1. Abhishekam and Alankaram: Abhishekam is a form of traditional worship performed to the Mother Goddess by pouring water, turmeric powder, milk and various holy waters on the deity. This is then followed by a ritual of Alankaram where the deity is adorned with fresh flowers, ornaments, garlands and other decorations. 2. Naivedyam and Aarthi: After the Abhishekam and Alankaram, offering of food or Naivedyam is made. This is done by offering sweets like Modaham and other dishes. At the end, aarthi is performed which involves waving of the lamp and chanting of certain mantras. 3. Bali: Bali is an offering made to the deity with flowers. This offering is accompanied with chanting of special mantras. 4. Archanai and Grand Pooja: After Bali, Archanai or special prayer is offered to Goddess Kaalikambal. This is followed by Grand Pooja, employing all sorts of offerings like flowers, incense etc. 5. Prasadham Distribution: After the Archanai and Grand Pooja, Prasadham or blessed food is distributed among the devotees. This blessed food is believed to have the Goddess’s blessing and is consumed.
