As per tradition, pilgrims should take bath in ‘Swami Pushkarani’ situated beside the temple before entering into the temple. The ‘Archana’ which is a normal feature of worship in every temple is offered in a systematic way. After Archana, devotees participate in the abhishekam or mukkavizha which is performed to the presiding deity. Consisting of a complete eight-part ritual, this is an important part of the temple customs. Following this, Ashtaabandhana, a process of worshipping Lord Muruga in various forms during different stages of the day is conducted.
