It traces its roots back to the end of the 19th century when the first Russian immigrants to Switzerland asked for approval to celebrate services in the Russian language and practice their Eastern Rite tradition. History:

At the end of the 19th century, Russian immigrants to Switzerland asked the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople to adopt their spiritual service and no formal parish was created. This was rectified in 1909 when Bishop Gennadius arrived in Switzerland to create a formal Russian Orthodox Church community. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Switzerland.
