It has stood on this site since the Late Middle Ages and was rebuilt in 1727. The church is considered an excellent example of the characteristic Swiss style of the 18th century, and it is listed in the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National and Regional Significance. This church was first mentioned in documents in 1254, but is believed to have existed here since at least the 11th century. The current building was constructed in 1727 and consecrated in 1733. It was renovated in 1913. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Switzerland.
