It was established in the early 16th century and is now administered by the Diocesan Office for Religious Affairs. The parish is dedicated to Saint Gallus and consists of two churches, one in Kriens and another in Emmenbrücke. It is one of the best churches in Switzerland which you must visit.

The parish was first mentioned in a document from 1513 and was originally part of the parish of Weggis. In 1550, it became an independent parish and the current church building was constructed in the early 17th century. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Switzerland.
