, Saint Mary of the Assumption Cathedral is located in Geneva, Switzerland and is the seat of the Archbishop of Geneva. It dates back to the 6th century, when it was founded as a parish church. In 1631, it was destroyed by a fire, and rebuilt in its current Baroque style. In 1973, it was given the title of “cathedral,” unifying the three parishes that make up the city of Geneva. Saint Mary of the Assumption Cathedral contains many of Reformation leader John Calvin’s original records and personal documents, as well as an impressive organ. The cathedral offers Mass services, baptisms, weddings, and funerals, as well as a special annual pilgrimage to commemorate its historical events.
