The church was constructed in the late 1950s and early 1960s and is considered a significant example of modern ecclesiastical architecture.The church was designed by Swiss architect Max Fernandez and is located near Lake Zurich at Agasstrasse, Enge. The church is built mostly of brick and displays elements of brutalist architecture praised for its simple, direct and honest appeal. The main entrance is highlighted by a curved arched doorway. Inside, the structure is separated by a circular column from the tiered seating platforms. The interior of the church is lavishly designed with stained glass, a grandiose chandelier, intricate sculptures and elaborate paintings.
