The Christkatholische Kirche Zurich Augustinerkirche is an active Roman Catholic church located in Zurich, Switzerland. The church has a long and historical past, which reaches back to the 12th century. The current building of the church was built after the old church burned down in 1772. The current structure is a combination of Baroque and Neo-Gothic styles and features a copper-colored tiled Romanesque spire. The interior of the building is lavish and colorful and features frescos, intricate stained glass windows, and a marble altar. The church's history dates back to 1145, when it served as Augustinian monastery founded by the Bishop of Konstanz. In 1524, the Reformation brought drastic changes to the church and it was taken over by the state and was used for academic purposes by the University of Zurich. It wasn't until 1850 when the Church was re-established, that services resumed. Today, visitors of the Church can attend masses every Sunday and prayer-service every Tuesday and Friday. The Church also houses an expansive library which is open to the public, and organizes an interpretation course which covers the basics of the Catholic faith and its history.
