Worship Method:

The worship method of Nallur Kandaswamy temple follows the Agamic Hindu worship tradition. The Hindi priest performs the rituals and pujas in the temple. The temple opens in the morning at 5 AM and closes at 11 AM. The morning puja ritual starts with the chanting of Vedic mantras and offering of aarthi. The priest performs the abhishekham (holy bath) to lord Muruga with holy water which is collected from a holy pond conducted in Pottuvil temple. Following this Abhishekham, several rituals are conducted including offering of flowers, herbs and fruits, and traditional Hindu chants. The temple again reopens at 5 PM for evening puja and closes at 9 PM. During evening puja, the priest offers prayers to the lord, conducts yagnyas, and performs rituals to invoke the lord. The temple also performs several cultural events on Hindu festival days.
