The temple priest performs Puja in three parts: Abhishekam (bathing the deities with sanctified water and healing herbs), Aarathi (offering of flowers, lamps, etc. to Lord Mariamman) and Prasadham (offering of food to the deities). The devotees bring their own flowers for offering at the altar of Lord Mariamman. They also offer coconuts, bananas, flowers, milk, turmeric water, and other puja items to the divine image. Other offerings to be made usually include chanting of mantras, performing special poojas etc. After the puja is over, devotees receive blessed Prasadam (Hindu ritual offering of food).
