History:
Holy Trinity Church in Sri Lanka was established by two German missionaries, Johann Rozier and Johann Ludwig-Ratzeburg, who arrived in 1760. They quickly drew the attention of locals who were interested in Christianity, and began to preach the gospel to the local population. The missionaries soon established a small wooden church on the banks of the Mahaweli River. Throughout the 19th century, the church grew in size and influence as more missionaries from the East Asia Mission Society arrived on the island. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Srilanka.
