Holy Rude In Scotland: History,Facts, & Services
History:
The church was originally established by monks in the 12th century. In 1295 it was given to Sir John de Graeme and his heirs by William Wallace. In the late 15th century, the church was given to the Canons Regular of St Andrews, who further decorated the building with stone carvings and sculptural images. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Scotland.

The church's name comes from the words 'Le Roi Saint', meaning 'the Holy King'. The carvings above the entrance carry the initials of James VI, signifying the importance of the coronation. The building is also known for having a grave inscription to the 18th century actor David Garrick, who was born in Stirling.

Today, Holy Rude In Scotland is an active church owned and run by the Stirling Council for Worship and the Arts. Services are still held in the church, with morning and evening Eucharists and occasional communion celebrations.This beautiful church in Scotland has made a lot of significance in the past.
