History:
The church was built around the 12th century, likely around 1150 AD. This makes it one of the oldest churches in Scotland with some parts of the original structure still visible today. It was built in the traditional Norman style of the period with a quire, nave, and a square tower. Though much of the present church structure was built in the 19th century, many features of the earlier building remain.
