History:

Balquhidder Parish Church is the oldest surviving congregation in Perthshire, founded in 1446. According to local tradition it was founded by the legendary Rob Roy MacGregor of Balquhidder who is buried in the kirkyard. The church received its first written charter from the Gordon's of Aberuchill Castle in 1511. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Scotland.
