Brief History:

Masjid Al-Shuhada is a historical mosque located in the city of Al-Kharj in Saudi Arabia. Located near the Al-Kharj Military Fort, it was built in 1200 AH (1765 CE) by Shaykh Abdullah bin Sulayman Al-Uteibi. The mosque has a unique minaret and mud walls, along with an impressive octagonal open dome and intricate decorations. Architecture:

The architecture of Masjid Al-Shuhada (or Martyrs Mosque) in Saudi-Arabia is a mixture of ancient Islamic and modern architectural styles. Its main features include a large open prayer hall, a domed courtyard, four minarets, and two floors of additional structures. Each of the walls facing the courtyard is surmounted by an arched window in the top story, and part of the building is surrounded by a prosodial arabesque with double-shell porch of white marble columns. The mosque has a grand entrance that features a red marble portal with two minarets. Inside, the prayer hall consists of a huge prayer hall that is divided into three aisles by arches. At the entrance, there is a wide court where worshippers can circle the Ka'ba in a gesture of pilgrimage. The mihrab is decorated with intricate geometric designs in colorful tiles and a carved marble dome tops the prayer niche. The minarets are a defining feature of Masjid Al-Shuhada. Built of white marble, the minarets are as tall as the structures around it, making them stand out dramatically. Each minaret is topped by a crescent and has three windows at the top for the call to prayer. The walls of the minarets are decorated with elaborate designs throughout. The adjacent Sabil-Kuttab is an even more elaborate structure, featuring a mosaic dome and a fountain at the center. The mihrab is decorated with a qibla pattern showing the correct facing of Mecca. The nature of the fountain symbolizes man's efforts to reach the divine, while the qibla details the importance of the five and the universality of faith.
