-It is the largest Catholic Church in Vietnam, and the largest Catholic Church in Southeast Asia. -It was established in 1877 by Bishop An Nhon, who was the first Vietnamese bishop to be canonized. -It is the only church in the province of Binh Phuoc. -The church and its grounds are surrounded by a wall and are home to the last remaining bell tower in the region. -The church has a large organ, which is the country’s only one of its kind. History:
The Phu Rieng Catholic Church was built in 1877, by Bishop An Nhon. He was the first Vietnamese bishop to be canonized. He was considered a martyr for his service to the church and was known for his charity and aid to the poor, and for establishing seminaries in the region. In 1885, a chapel was built next to the church and was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This chapel is still in use today, and the grounds are still surrounded by a wall. The bell tower, which is the last one in the region, has been restored and is a popular tourist attraction. The Phu Rieng Catholic Church is located in the town of Phu Rieng, in the province of Binh Phuoc. To get to the church, you can take a bus or train from Ho Chi Minh City to the city of Phu Rieng. The journey takes about two hours. Once in Phu Rieng, you can take a taxi or a motorbike from the train station to the church. The church is open to visitors and entry is free. There is a small shop at the church that sells religious items and other products.
