Independent Church of Filipino Christians Aglipay Memorial Church In Philippines: History,Facts, & Services

The Independent Church of Filipino Christians Aglipay Memorial Church (Iglesia Filipina Independiente Aglipay Memorial) is a Protestant denomination founded in 1902 by a reformer and military leader, General Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy. This denomination is the result of early ecclesiastical unrest by Filipino Catholics due to the Spanish colonial oppression. This congregation began as the Aglipayan-Iglesia del Pueblo Unido, therefore making it the first Catholic denomination to break away from the Roman Catholic hierarchy which had imposed secular repression. Since its inception, the members of the church crafted their own liturgy and religious doctrine. The church has grown steadily and have established since then parochial, associate and fellowship provinces in different regions of the country. Their services are focused on preaching scriptural truth and helping the less fortunate. They provide social services, disaster relief and poverty alleviation. Other than spiritual and social services, the church has found success in educational and economic endeavors.
