The Al Wahat West South Mosque in Nizwa, Oman is one of the oldest mosques in the country. It is said to have been built by a ruler of the Yafa'i tribe in the 10th century. The Al Wahat West South Mosque in Oman is built in the traditional Islamic-style architecture, inspired by the architecture of the Grand Mosque of Muscat. The mosque is composed of four parts: the prayer hall, minaret, entrance area and ablution facility. The prayer hall is the main structure of the mosque, laid out along an east-west axis. The hall is crowned with four domes clad in white marble and gold mosaic, and it features two lateral corridors made up of low arches. The exterior of the mosque is clad in stone, and the minaret consists of a tall tower with a balcony from which the muezzin calls to prayer. The entrance area is surrounded by arched colonnades which provide a shaded space, while the ablution facility is nestled within the courtyard of the mosque.
