Brief History:
is a prominent mosque located in the Quwayriah district of Ash Sharqiyah region. It is believed to have been built by the Nabayeen king Fahd Al Qalhatin in 1710 and is one of the oldest mosques in Oman. Architecture:
The Al Qalhat Central North Mosque is located in the city of Al Qalhat, Oman. It is an excellent example of modern Islamic architecture. The Mosque was designed by Architect Fouad Nassar and completed in 1998. The Mosque features a number of special architectural features, beginning with its exterior. The Mosque features a symmetrical design with a large central dome. This dome is flanked by two narrower minarets which are visible from all angles. The facade of the building is then decorated with intricate patterns in white and cream limestone. The interior of the Mosque features a three-tiered layout. The main area is at the lower level and is lit up by a large central dome. This central dome is surrounded by six smaller domes which add to the overall beauty of the interior. There is also a large prayer hall and two side naves which are used for religious lectures and community events. The walls of the prayer hall are decorated with a variety of Islamic symbols and geometric patterns. The Al Qalhat Central North Mosque is a great example of modern Islamic architecture. It combines both traditional elements with modern design to create a unique structure. It can be seen from many angles throughout the city and serves as a reminder of the important role Islam has had in the history of Oman. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
The Qalhat Central North Mosque in Oman is open for prayer to all individuals of all faiths from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, every day of the week. The mosque is also open for visitors to tour and explore from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the mosque can only be visited from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. best mosque in the world.
