Architecture:
The Al Badiyah Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Oman and also the oldest mosque in the Governorate of Dhofar. It was built in the 15th century and is said to be founded by a Yemeni tribal chief named Bin Malik. The mosque is built in a classic Arabic style with two small, lying minarets topped with domes. Its main dome is octagonal and is decorated with ornate patterns. Inside the Al Badiyah Mosque, there is a remarkable collection of Islamic and contemporary art and icons lining the walls and ceiling. The interior also includes several tombs containing the remains of sultans and tribal chiefs. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
Al Badiyah Mosque is open for visitors seven days a week. Opening hours are from 8:00am until 10:50am* and from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. *Friday openings are from 8:00am to 10:45am. best mosque in the world.
