Built during the time of the Ghazanid Empire (1179-1419), the mosque has a four-aisle design, with the main aisle running from the southwest to the northeast, and the other three aisles branching off in three other directions. It is one of the oldest surviving mosques in Oman, and its design is a unique example of Ottoman-style architecture in the region. The mosque was recently renovated in 2018. The Al Mudhaireb South West North East Mosque is located in Ibra, Oman. It was built in 1985 by the local caravanserai that constructed the Tawi Atayr fort. The mosque consists of a main prayer hall located on the eastern side that leads to a larger open court area. The open court is filled with fragrant flowers and tropical plants, and is surrounded by four tall minarets. The main structure is built of brick and mortar, with sandstone and marble cladding. The interior of the mosque is decorated with intricate woodwork and calligraphic script. There are stained glass windows and crystal-tiled domes. The prayer hall has a single minbar, or pulpit, for delivering sermons. A mehrab marks the direction of prayer. The mosque also has a library and a lecturing platform. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
