Brief History:
is the oldest mosque in the Wilayat of Muttrah, Oman. It dates back to the late 14th century and is known for its grand architecture and a unique blend of Islamic and traditional Omani styles. The mosque was designed by the renowned architect Rashid Al Salmi Al Rashidi. The mosque is situated in the West of Muttrah city, and is the most prominent landmark in the region. The mosque is a popular place of worship for locals as well as visitors. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al Mawalih West North Mosque in Oman is a traditional mosque built in the traditional style. It is constructed from stone and clay and features a large central dome, flanked by four smaller domes, which are supported by four minarets. The inner walls feature intricate tile designs in the form of patterns and verses from the Quran. The flooring is covered with tiles and the roof is finished in ornate Islamic mosaic works. There are two main prayer halls in the building, along with smaller prayer rooms and a study hall. A large wooden door leads to the courtyard, which has a large fountain in its center. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

The nearest airport is located in Muscat, which is around 135 km away from the Mosque. The nearest train station is located in Al Hamra, which is around 10 km away from the Mosque. The Mosque is accessible by private cars and buses available from Nizwa city. The journey to the Mosque will take approximately 45 minutes.
