NG Kerk Mariental In Namibia: History,Facts, & Services
NG Kerk Mariental is a large congregation of the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa based in the town of Mariental, in the Hardap Region of Namibia. It was established in 1921 by a group of Boer settlers who had trekked northward during the South African War (1899-1902). The church has long held a prominent role in the community, and is still active in Mariental today.
The congregation was originally designated as Drooge Schuur and was made up of Dutch-speaking farmers, who based their faith on Calvinist and Lutheran beliefs. Since then, the church has welcomed members of many different ethnic and language backgrounds.
Today, NG Kerk Mariental strives to bring hope and healing to the people of Mariental through its various services. These services include bible study, worship services, community outreach programs, and pastoral care. The church also organizes and hosts events throughout the year, from creative workshops to community festivals. Additionally, the church plays an important role in local youth development. All of these activities serve to strengthen the bonds between the members of the congregation, as well as bring peace and hope to the broader Mariental community.
