St. Andrew AME Church is a historic African Methodist Episcopal church located in Savannah, Georgia. It was founded by members of Savannah’s first African-American community in 1820. St. Andrew AME Church has played a significant role in the history of the AME denomination and black religious life in the United States. History:

St. Andrew was first established as the African Methodist Episcopal Bethel Church in the early 1820s and was originally located on Liberty Street in downtown Savannah. Its first pastor was the Rev. Richard Holloway and its original members, mostly free blacks, belonged to the Bethel Literary Institute. St. Andrew was the first AME church in the South and the fourth in the nation. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Namibia.
