History:

The Methodist Church of Southern Africa was formed in 1899, when the Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist churches merged in the southern part of the continent. These two churches were primarily British-basedmissionary organizations that had been working in the region since the early 19th century, but the formation of the MCSA united their efforts and marked the beginning of a larger unified effort to evangelize and do social ministry in South Africa. Many of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa's churches are found in some of the most remote and marginalised areas of the country, where they provide essential social services, education, health care and spiritual guidance. Currently, the MCSA is represented in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Namibia.
