The Rajarajeshwara temple located in Taliparamba, Kannur district, Kerala is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Lord Shiva. Devotees attending the temple worship the deity in a unique style called ‘Orikkal Kappu’. This unique way of worshipping involves the offering of a garland with 21 small silver coins imprinted with Lord Shiva’s face. This garland is then worn around the neck of a brass idol of Lord Shiva installed in the temple. Devotees offer perfumes, flowers, fruits, naivedya, and butter milk during poojas or worship rituals.
