History:

Originally, Immaculate Conception of Our Lady Church was established as a mission of St. Leo’s Church in York. St. Leo’s was a German parish that was founded in 1823 and was one of the earliest Catholic parishes in the area. The original church within the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady Parish opened in 1855 and was made out of brick. This church was erected on the corner of Lime and Chestnut streets with the intention that it was to serve both German and English speaking members of the local communities.
