Quseir 'Amra In Jordan: History,Facts, & Services
History:
Quseir 'Amra was originally built by the Umayyad Caliph al-Walid in the early 8th century, and is thought to have been used mainly as a hunting lodge. The castle remained intact into the 12th century. In 1884, the British archaeologist, William Matthew Flinders Petrie, removed some of the frescoes from the site and brought them to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for restoration. In 1992, UNESCO declared Quseir 'Amra a World Heritage Site due to its impressive art, architecture and history. Quseir 'Amra This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jordan.

Quseir 'Amra is the best preserved example of early Islamic art and architecture in the region. It is not only a unique example of Islamic art and architecture, but also of global culture. Services:
In addition to being a popular tourist attraction, Quseir 'Amra is a site for scientific research and houses an archaeological laboratory. The castle and surrounding area are also open for guided tours, educational visits and workshops. The castle is open each day from 9AM to 4PM.This beautiful church in Jordan has made a lot of significance in the past.
