History:
The Qasr Shabeeb palace was built by the Umayyad Caliph Hisham II in 942 AD, during his reign. It served as the main residence of the Umayyad dynasty until the fall of their caliphate in 750 A.D. The palace was then used as a residence for many other generations of rulers, including the Ayyubid dynasty, the Mamluk rulers, and Ottoman rulers. It was also used as a military garrison and a prison during Ottoman rule. Qasr Shabeeb This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jordan.
