St. Saviors Convent In Jerusalem is a Franciscan monastery located in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is the motherhouse of the Franciscan Order and one of the holiest places in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The convent was founded in 1263 as a hospice for pilgrims, and was extended several times over the centuries. It is the oldest Christian monastery in Jerusalem.

The Franciscan presence in Jerusalem was established in 1217 by Saint Francis of Assisi, and was recognized by Pope Urban IV in 1262. He instructed that a monastery be established for the care of the sick and the infirm. The first monastery, named “St. Saviors of Jerusalem”, was erected in 1263 on the outskirts of the city. Over the centuries, the monastery underwent several renovations and conversions, and eventually moved its location to the center of Old Jerusalem. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jerusalem.
