The Church of St Paul was founded in 1856 by Queen Victoria’s father, the Duke of Kent, and was the first church to be built by Anglicans in the Holy Land. The original structure was built near the Garden of Gethsemane and was known as the Anglican Bishop’s Mission. In 1858, the mission was moved to its current location on St. Paul Street in the Old City. The church has undergone several renovations over its history, including the addition of an adjoining bell tower in the 1910s. In 1967, the Church of St Paul was spared destruction during the Six-Day War by members of the Israeli Defense Forces, who encircled the church and protected it from damage. The Church’s
