History:

Pater Noster Church was constructed in 1872 from limestone that was taken from a quarry outside the walls of the Old City. It is believed that the structure is located upon an elaborate crypt which was constructed in the late 4th century AD, under the direction of Saint Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine. It is also said that the Virgin Mary stayed in the crypt entrance during the time of Jesus’s ministry. This is believed to be the actual site where Jesus taught the Lord’s Prayer from the Mount of Olives. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jerusalem.

The church features a large dome, with an altar dedicated to Jesus with a mosaic illustrating the Lord’s Prayer.
