The Ethiopian Patriarchate in Jerusalem is the ecclesiastical branch of the Church of Ethiopia in the Holy Land. It was founded by Emperor Fasiladas in 1630 and is one of the oldest ethno-national churches in the world. It is based in the Ethiopian Monastery of Saint Mary of Zion in Axum, in what is today Ethiopia. Since its foundation, the Ethiopian Patriarchate has been providing spiritual leadership and services to the Ethiopian Jews living in Israel and to the Christian pilgrims visiting the holy land. Its main services include Orthodox liturgies, pastoral and spiritual guidance, and other pastoral activities. It also preserves the Ethiopian culture and traditions, such as traditional music and food.
