The Church of the Visitation In Jerusalem is a Catholic church situated in the Ein Kerem quarter of Jerusalem, Israel. It was built in 1955 on the site where the Mary Visitation to Elizabeth is believed to have happened, according to the Gospel of Luke. The church honours the visit of Mary and her cousin Elizabeth and the joyful song sung by them, the Magnificat. The Church has a Latin style and is a Pro-Cathedral of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

History:
In 1871, the remains of a Byzantine Christian basilica were discovered by the Custody of the Holy Land in Ein Kerem. According to tradition, this site was the home of Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. Thus, the site is esteemed by both Catholics and Orthodox. In 1955, a small chapel was built, and the larger present building was erected between 1972 and 1974. Pope Paul VI visited the Church in 1964 and blessed the cornerstone for the new building. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jerusalem.
