In 1925, the Catholic Bishop of Hiroshima, Most Rev. Monsignor A. Renaudin, established the church and invited the Priest Rev. Joseph Aimé Marie Javillier to become the first Pastor and serve the faithful. This was the first Catholic Church to be built in the city of Matsubara. The Church continued to grow and in 1968, a larger facility was built and the Catholic Church began to become an increasingly vibrant place of worship.
