The main building of the al-Shuhadaa mosque was built in the 9th century and is made from brick, stone and plaster. The mosque is split into three parts, the main courtyards, the praying hall and the dome covered by the altar. The main courtyards surrounding the mosque are decorated with trees, and water basins. The main entrance is from the main court with two minarets on its sides, as is common in traditional Islamic architecture. The entrance is framed with a grand arch that is topped with domed glass. The praying hall is located at the center of the complex, with a large mihrab in the center. This part of the complex has a large dome that is situated at the center and it is decorated with a series of intricate decorations and arabesque-style geometric patterns. The central area of the praying hall is domed with a golden dome and minarets that are located on its sides. It also has several smaller prayer halls that are located around this main dome, and these are also decorated with intricate designs. The dome covered Altar is the center of worship at the Al-Shuhadaa Mosque, located within the main hall of the complex. The entire altar is covered by a large dome, that is decorated with verses of the Quran and Islamic symbols. This is the only dome in the Al-Shuhadaa Mosque that is covered with a gold leaf. The Al-Shuhadaa Mosque also has a large garden which is open to the public. This garden is situated on the east side of the complex and is filled with trees and plants that make it an enchanting place to explore.
