Brief History:
: Al-Majid Mosque is a large Shi’a mosque located in Kirkuk, Iraq. It was built in the early 1970s, during the Saddam Hussein regime. The mosque, which is also known as “Al-Majid al-Kabir” or “the Great Majid”, is an example of a unique architectural style, known as Saddam Hussein style. The mosque is a well-built structure, with a clean white dome, decorated with small circles. The interior is filled with intricate carvings and several marble columns support the main prayer hall. The large prayer hall can accommodate hundreds of worshippers and has a beautiful minbar or pulpit. The mosque also has several small prayer halls, which accommodate smaller groups of people. Since its inception, Al-Majid Mosque has been an important place of worship for the local Shia community and continues to serve as an important place of religious gathering. It is also the primary venue for organizing religious events and lectures. It is one of the most famous mosque in Iraq which you must visit.
