Architecture:

The Shah Mosque, also known as Imam Mosque, is an 18th-century mosque in Isfahan, Iran. It is considered to be one of the masterpieces of Persian architecture. The mosque was designed by the architect Shaykh Bahai and constructed between 1611 and 1638 during the Safavid dynasty. The mosque has a four-iwan plan with a vast courtyard surrounded by four iwans (porches). The main iwan (Royal Sanctuary), which is the highest of the four, is surrounded by a marble arcaded portico. This portico is flanked by two minarets and two courtyards. The minarets are topped with blue tiled domes and are decorated with inscriptions in Kufic and Nesak scripts. The courtyards feature lush gardens and intricate marble work. The mosque also has four large, decorated, turquoise ceramic tiles which cover the ceiling of the main iwan.
