Brief History:
is a large and beautiful mosque in the city of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. It was built in 1837 by Sultan Suriansyah, the 30th Sultan of Banjarmasin who reigned from 1825-1863. He was also known as Pangeran Ratu Bukit, meaning "Prince of the Hill". The mosque has been considered a unique heritage of Islamic culture and history in Indonesia, and visited by Muslims from different regions. Its architecture features a mix of local Islamic and European designs. The mosque is built with three-stories and is seven meters high. Its minarets reach a height of 15 meters and its four sides are ornamented with arabesque designs. The Masjid Raya Sultan Suriansyah is a grand mosque located in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Indonesia.
